Somewhat floral overall and very pleasant. Well priced. Great history, being a favorite of Churchill.

    Classic English Gentleman

Posted by Thomas Angelopoulos on Sep 23rd 2022

Floris no 89 immediately hits you with it's powdery and rosy scent. While rose doesn't necessarily strike most as being a masculine scent, I definitely think this scent is for men. I very much enjoy smelling Floris 89, but I must admit I don't think it is going to be something I wear often. I would almost prefer it as something I just occasionally smell in my office or in my dresser, rather than being a scent I want others to smell me by. It feels like a mature fragrance, that I might try again later in life. To me this is a great fragrance for a daytime English wedding.

    Wonderful scent!

Delightful! Acts like a lightweight chypre; oak moss, fir, bergamot, and leather instead of labdanum. Rests in the vein of Dunhill for Men or Aramis 900 with amped up bergamot and a lighter, cleaner base. Just weak; not understated, but weak.

If it's good enough for James Bond...

I love James Bond and if his creator uses Floris and includes it in his books as the go to fragrance for James Bond 007 then it's my no. 1 choice. It smells so good and it's a clean smell. It's awesome.

Classic in every sense of the word . . .

I am new to fragrances and because of that have no knowledge of what, or how, to select a fragrance I can wear with confidence. I have purchased a few niche fragrances and I like them very much, but there was something missing from them which I could not figure out. While researching my favorite author, Ian Flemming, I had read from several sources that he was very fond of Floris .89 and with that, I decided to try a sample. I absolutely love this fragrance. It definitely has an old world charm and scent reminiscent of a time long past, but not forgotten. The scent brings to mind a time when men were gentlemen and knew how to treat a lady with dignity and respect, A simpler time when one took the time to enjoy life be it via walks on the beach or a pleasant dinner out with a wonderful companion. As a side note, it is well-known that Ian Flemming wrote of many of his personal habits and tastes and applied them to his world famous character, James Bond. Among Bond aficionados, it is a subject of much conjecture that Floris No. .89 would, as it was Flemmings' favorite cologne, would also be the unmentioned favorite of James Bond. I would tend to agree.
